Dear Members of ASI Kerala Chapter, I hope everyone is doing well and sincerely wish everyone a happy and healthy year ahead. The year 2022 witnesses the waining of covid wave and return of our physical meetings.
| Peripheral Meeting | |  |
Our peripheral meeting was held at Wayanadu on 13th March 2022 by Wayanad Surgical Club and Govt. Medical College Wayanad under the leadership of Dr. Rajan Kumar T (Organising Chairman), Dr. Jubesh A (Organising Secretary) and Dr. Sajesh P T (Treasurer). The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. E V Gopi, Chairman, ASI. It was a well arranged meeting with various topics discussed in detail by senior faculties from the state.
| KASICON 2022 | | |
The 44rd annual conference of ASI Kerala Chapter was held at Hotel O by Tamara, Trivandrum on 18th and 19th June 2022 and organized by Department of Surgery, Govt Medical College, Trivandrum and Trivandrum City Chapter of ASI. It was the first physical meet after the covid era. It was a memorable and well organized meeting with Prof. Raghavachari oration by Dr Sreejayan MP, Calicut, Mohandas memorial oration by Dr. Abdul Latheef, Trivandrum, inauguration, GB meeting and topic presentations. Susrutha awards were given to Dr. Thyagarajan and Dr. Madhu Mohan. Dr. Abdul Latheef (Organing Chairman) and Dr. Meer Chisty (Organing Secretary) need high appreciation for the good conduct of KASICON 2022. Annual GB of ASI Kerala chapter was held on 19th June 2022 during which Dr. Binni John taken charge as Chairman, ASIKC and Dr Sreejayan as Chairman Elect.
| Annual CME | | |
The Annual CME of ASIK was conducted on 29th and 30th October 2022 at Alleppey. Dr N R Sajikumar (Organising Chairman), Dr Vinod (Organising Secretary) and Dr Manoj (Treasurer) did a commendable job in organising the annual CME in a fantastic way. Dr. EV Gopi, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Calicut inaugurated the meeting. Two days of hectic schedule covered almost all aspects of General Surgery topics. The executive committee meeting was conducted on 29th October at 6pm on the same venue.
| Kerala Surgical Journal | | |
We have been trying hard to proceed with the indexation of the Kerala Surgical Journal through Ms. Wolters Kluver. Two issues of the journal were published in time this year with high quality original articles and papers. Hopefully our journal will get indexed soon, so that our journal will be self-sustainable.
I am really grateful to my past Chairmen Dr. EV Gopi, Chairman Dr Binni John and the entire ASIK office bearers for their total support and advice. I also thank all the Executive committee members and seniors for their constant encouragement and support. I may be pardoned if there had been any inadvertent error or inaction from my part during my tenure. Many of our social and academic activities were suspended during the time of the pandemic. I hope that as the situation is under control, we should be able to roll back to our energising get togethers and all academic activities in future.
